STAALBEER SELF DRILLING FASTENERS

Fasteners play a critical role when it comes to the overal performance of a metal roofing system. Class 2 fasteners that conforms to SANS 1273 and is suitable for inland non industrial use is available ex stock at Staalbeer branches. For industrial conditions Class 3 or Class 4 Fasteners is available on special order.

Why choose Staalbeer Self Drilling Fasteners:

  • Zap self drilling screws are made from C1022 case hardened steel
  • Zap self drilling screws are made to I.F.I. (International Fastener Institute) specifications regarding dimensions and mechanical requirements (including drilling performance)
  • Zap Class 2 self drilling screws are zinc electroplated with a minimum plating thickness of 12 micron as per Table B.2 of SANS1273 – 2009.
  • Zap Class 2 self drilling screws are suitable for use in ISO Class 2 environments as described in ISO9223 (The corrosion rate for ISO Class2 environments is 0.1 – 0.7 micron zinc per year)
  • Zap Class 2 self drilling screws offer 2-4 times the corrosion resistance and life span of a regular non-specified fastener that is generally available in the trade.
  • Zap Class 2 self drilling screws have a “Z2” head marking for identification as a Zap self drilling screw with a Class 2 coating.

A drill with an adjustable clutch and depth gauge should be used to ensure that fasteners are not overtightened.

The corrosive properties of the environment should be considered when a fastener is selected for a Light Steel Roof System.
